IOOF Pilgrimage for Youth: A Journey of Leadership, History, and Global Citizenship

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Pilgrimage for Youth is a prestigious leadership and educational program designed to inspire young minds through travel, cultural exchange, and historical exploration. Established in 1949, the program was created to provide high school students with a deeper understanding of democracy, civic engagement, and global citizenship. Sponsored by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and Rebekahs, the Pilgrimage brings together students from around the world to visit historical landmarks, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and develop leadership skills that last a lifetime.

Participants have visited some of the most significant sites in North America, including Washington, D.C., Gettysburg National Military Park, the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Vernon, the U.S. Capitol, and Arlington National Cemetery. These experiences offer students a firsthand look at history, government, and the sacrifices made for freedom and democracy.

Rooted in the IOOF’s core values of fraternity, charity, and truth, the Pilgrimage broadens perspectives, fosters lifelong friendships, and encourages future leaders to engage with the world in meaningful ways. Through this unforgettable journey, students gain a deeper appreciation for history, government, and the responsibilities of citizenship, empowering them to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
